Two teens charged after northeast Calgary traffic stop uncovers 842 grams of suspected cocaine and fentanyl

Calgary police seized drugs worth an estimated $43,000, cash, and ammunition from hidden compartments in the vehicle.

Two teenagers face trafficking charges after Calgary police discovered more than 840 grams of suspected drugs during a routine traffic stop in northeast Calgary on Wednesday.

Officers pulled over a vehicle around 5:25 p.m. near 68 Street and McKnight Boulevard NE after noticing the registered owner was wanted under the Traffic Safety Act. While the owner wasn't inside, officers found several hidden compartments containing a large quantity of drugs.

Police seized 738 grams of suspected cocaine and 104 grams of suspected fentanyl, with a combined estimated worth of $43,000. Officers also recovered $1,040 in cash and 44 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

Eighteen-year-old Natale Mahder Tesfe is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of failing to comply with a sentence or disposition.
