Eight charged, 18 firearms seized in Calgary organized crime investigation

Calgary police have charged eight people and seized 18 firearms and $58,500 in drugs following an 11-month investigation into an alleged drug-trafficking and organized crime network operating in the city.

The investigation began in September 2025 after police became aware of a man believed to be engaged in drug trafficking. The organized crime enforcement team identified a network believed to be involved in drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning and prescription fraud. Throughout the investigation, officers wrote 74 judicial authorizations and executed 15 search warrants.

On December 17, 2025, police executed search warrants at a residence in Delacour along the 253200 block of 84 Street, a residence in Chestermere along the 100 block of Clearwater Terrace, and a Jeep associated with the suspects. Police seized $7,690 in cash, a cash counter, forged prescription documents, prescription medication believed to be obtained with forged prescriptions, and a radio-frequency jammer. Ausama Mohamed, 28, of Chestermere and Bonnie LeBlanc, 40, of Delacour were charged with fraud-related offences. LeBlanc will appear in court on August 31; Mohamed on September 15.

On March 9, search warrants at a residence in the 100 block of Cityside Grove N.E., an apartment in the 200 block of 13 Avenue S.W. and three vehicles led to the seizure of a loaded Girsan MC14 BDA handgun, 137 rounds of ammunition, $15,410 in cash, 160.2 grams of methamphetamine, 115.1 grams of cocaine, 23 OxyContin pills and drug trafficking materials. Mohammed Salimi, 22, and Omed Salimi, 25, both of Calgary, were each charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000. Omed will appear in court on August 26; Mohammed on August 28.

A traffic stop by the gang suppression team on the same day led to the seizure of a loaded Smith & Wesson SD9 VE handgun, ammunition, 128.8 grams of powder and crack cocaine in 63 baggies and brass knuckles. Jayson McCormack, 21, of Calgary was arrested after fleeing from a traffic stop in Thorncliffe on July 13. Police found 46.3 grams of powder and crack cocaine in 39 wrapped baggies, 11 pills suspected to be fentanyl and cash. McCormack was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, resisting arrest and multiple firearm-related offences.
