Organized crime network dismantled after 11-month investigation in Calgary
Police charged eight people and seized 18 firearms, $58,000 in drugs, and stolen vehicles. One suspect remains at large.

Calgary police have dismantled an organized crime network that trafficked drugs, dealt illegal weapons, re-vinned vehicles, and committed prescription fraud across the city and surrounding areas.
The investigation began in September 2025 when officers identified a man suspected of selling drugs. Over 11 months, they uncovered a larger operation involving eight people across multiple communities. Police obtained 74 court orders and executed 15 search warrants in four separate phases between December and March.
The first phase in December 2025 targeted homes in Delacour and Chestermere. Officers seized cash, forged prescriptions, and a radio-frequency jammer. Ausama Mohamed, 28, of Chestermere and Bonnie Leblanc, 40, of Delacour were charged and released pending court dates later in 2026.
On March 9, police searched a home in northeast Calgary's Cityscape community, a downtown apartment, and three vehicles. They found a loaded handgun, ammunition, more than 160 grams of methamphetamine, 115 grams of cocaine, OxyContin pills, cash, and 107 individually wrapped drug baggies hidden inside vehicle door panels. Mohammed and Omed Salimi, both Calgary men, were charged with drug-trafficking offences and released pending court.
The same day, officers stopped another suspect and seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, 128 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, brass knuckles, and hidden compartments. Jayson McCormack, 21, was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop in July and charged with multiple drug and gun offences.
On March 26, the final phase brought the largest haul: 13 rifles (four hidden in a secret room), two loaded handguns, a loaded shotgun, more than 760 rounds of ammunition, body armour, cocaine, MDMA, cash, stolen vehicles, drug-packaging materials, and weapons. Ahed Alwan and Asrar Mansouri, both Calgary men, were charged and scheduled to appear in court in August.
Christopher Hayward, 45, remains wanted on multiple gun and drug-trafficking charges. He is described as approximately 5'7", 140 lbs., with brown hair, green eyes, and tattoos on his arms and chest.
Over the course of the investigation, police seized more than $58,000 worth of drugs. Police said they have concluded this specific investigation but are continuing to investigate the sources of the seized drugs, weapons, and ammunition.
