Diamond Valley Parade and Family Festival returns Saturday
58th annual parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Free pancake breakfast, live music, bouncy houses, vendor market, food trucks.
Diamond Valley's annual parade returns Saturday for its 58th year — a full day of small-town spirit that's become a late-spring hallmark across the southern foothills.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on 5th Avenue SW, looping through 1st Street SW, 1st Avenue SW, 5th Street SW and 3rd Avenue SW. Diamond Valley Mayor Brendan Kelly said what makes the event special is the community itself. "People open up their front lawns and people are popping chairs down, they're making new friends. I think that really speaks to the character of the community and what our residents can bring to people when they visit our community."
Attendees can fuel up with a free pancake breakfast at Oilfields High School starting at 8:30 a.m. — arrive early, the breakfast is always popular.
After the parade, the Family Festival runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Millennium Park. Expect the usual draw: bouncy houses, petting zoos, games, face painting, live music, and a firefighter challenge. New this year is an expanded artisan and vendor market showcasing locally made products, plus a 'Little Lifter' deadlift activity for kids.
Food trucks and BBQ will be stationed throughout. Community groups are also hosting special events: a Book and Bake Sale at the Sheep River Library (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), a Quilt Show and Bake Sale at the Sheep Creek Arts Council (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.), and a Duck Derby at the Turner Valley Campground — the draw happens at the festival at 2:30 p.m.
This marks the fourth year since Black Diamond and Turner Valley amalgamated into Diamond Valley in 2023. The parade has been a community fixture since 1968.
