Foothills Composite hosts inclusive baseball game
Okotoks high school celebrates students with jays care foundation grant funding face painting, games, and community.
Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks hosted Inclusive Game Day on May 26, partnering with the Jays Care Foundation to celebrate students with disabilities and diverse learning needs.
The event featured an inclusive baseball game where all students could participate regardless of ability, alongside face painting, a hair station run by the school's cosmetology students, snacks, temporary tattoos, and carnival games. Teachers Kellie McLeod and Colleen Hunter, who lead the school's inclusive education program, spearheaded the initiative with support from educational assistants and student leaders.
The Jays Care Foundation provided a grant that made the day possible, bringing professional baseball programming to a community outside major urban centres. For Foothills Composite students, the event underscored that inclusion isn't an afterthought — it's central to how a school celebrates its whole community.
