Baseball Canada's inaugural Road to Okotoks will bring the country's top U19 academy teams to the Seaman Stadium Complex from July 14–19 to compete for the Morneau Cup.

The 16-team tournament is being held at Okotoks' elite amateur facilities and marks the start of what could be a nine-year hosting commitment. Eight of the berths were determined through regional qualifiers: Alberta sent the Vauxhall Jets, St. Albert's AHP Renegades, the Sylvan Lake Jr. Gulls, and Team Saskatchewan. B.C. qualified the Abbotsford Cardinals, Langley Blaze, Victoria Eagles, and UBC Thunder. Ontario and Atlantic Canada sent the Ontario Kobras, Mississauga's Ontario Blue Jays, the Mississauga Tigers, Etobicoke Rangers, Oakville Terriers, Quebec's Diamond Baseball Academy, and Newfoundland's Frontier Baseball Club.

Okotoks' Dawgs 18U Black, a highly successful program on the North American tournament circuit, will represent the home region. Coach Jeff Duda said the team has been preparing intensely since September 2025 — ramping up practice hours, games, and conditioning. "It's the truly the best of the best tournament that this country's had so far as teams are concerned, so it's pretty cool," he said. "We're always looking to play the best competition possible."

The team faces obstacles: a couple of players have generated serious interest for the MLB amateur draft, which takes place right before the Road to Okotoks, and several injuries have occurred in recent weeks. Duda believes the Dawgs' depth — on both the pitching side and positionally — is their biggest strength. "Every player on the roster is just as talented as the next. Having that depth is unmatched," he said.
