A Foothills County man accused of systematically defrauding the Okotoks Agricultural Society remains without a lawyer as he faces serious criminal charges.

Dean Kyle Thomson is charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft over $5,000, and using or possessing forged documents. He is alleged to have misappropriated over $200,000 from the agricultural society while serving as its treasurer. The alleged offences occurred between December 2020 and March 2024, and charges were filed in 2025. None of the allegations have been tested in court.

Thomson appeared in court on June 26 and is scheduled to appear next at the Alberta Court of Justice in Okotoks on July 17. At a previous court appearance on May 29, he requested an adjournment to retain a lawyer.
