The Town of Okotoks lifted its Stage 1 Emergency Management Plan on July 7, ending the high streamflow advisory for the Sheep River in the region.
Despite the advisory's removal, the river remains high, fast, and cold with unpredictable currents and the risk of underwater hazards, the Town cautioned. Residents are urged to stay off and out of the water, keep away from riverbanks, stay on marked trails, and avoid high-flow areas.
