Tristan Peters, an Okotoks Dawgs alumnus and Dawgs Academy graduate, has been selected to the American League roster for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game taking place this week in Philadelphia.

Peters, named as an injury replacement, has made the most of his first season as a full-time big leaguer with the Chicago White Sox, posting a .301 batting average with six home runs and 36 RBI while providing stellar defence.

On Friday, one day ahead of his All-Star selection, the Winkler, Manitoba native hit for the cycle — a rare feat in baseball — and capped off the accomplishment with a two-run dinger and RBI triple in the seventh inning as Chicago routed the Athletics 14-1.

The 26-year-old became the sixth Dawgs alumnus to play in the MLB when he made his debut last August as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. He played in four games before an offseason trade to Chicago. Peters starred for the Dawgs during their 2019 championship season, earning WCBL Playoff MVP honours while posting a .396 batting average, 12 home runs, and 44 RBI as an elite outfielder with speed.

He will be the second Dawg to earn All-Star Game recognition, joining right-handed pitcher Andrew Kittredge, who was honoured in 2021 as a member of the Rays.
