A Calgary probation officer has been charged with breaching trust and unauthorized computer use after allegedly accessing confidential records she was not authorized to view. Navjot Dhillon, 25, is accused of viewing secure Alberta Correctional Services databases for reasons unrelated to her duties.

Calgary police were first alerted on January 22 when a report came in that protected records had been improperly accessed. Investigators determined that a probation officer had looked at confidential correctional databases without authorization. On April 30, officers executed a search warrant and seized electronic devices from the suspect, where they found evidence showing she had viewed information she was not permitted to access.

Dhillon is scheduled to appear in court in August. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234.
