A man died from injuries sustained in a fatal stabbing Friday, October 2 at approximately 7 p.m. on the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E. in downtown Calgary.
Police responded to reports of an assault involving a weapon. The victim, a man, was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition but died from his injuries. Two men are believed to have known each other. A physical altercation occurred between them, and one produced a knife and stabbed the other. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and remains at large.
Calgary Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Investigators are seeking public help to identify two individuals believed connected to the incident—photos of a man and a woman have been released. Information was obtained from witness statements and CCTV footage review. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6.
Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit said: "This was a brazen act of violence that claimed a person's life. We are working to determine exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward."
