Gabriella Durante has made history as the first University of Calgary Dinos player ever selected in the PWHL Draft.

The goaltender was chosen by the Seattle Torrent in the sixth round, 62nd overall, on Wednesday night. Durante, 25 and a Calgary native, spent parts of six seasons with the Dinos, appearing in 73 regular-season games and posting a 32-33-5 record with a .917 save percentage and 11 shutouts.

"We are very proud of Gabby," Dinos women's hockey head coach Josh Gosling said. "She set a standard for work ethic that still lives in our program. She is a great goalie and an even better human who deserves everything she works for."

A three-time Academic All-Canadian, Durante left the university program to pursue a spot on Italy's national team. She made the Olympic roster for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Games, appearing in four games and helping Italy reach the quarterfinals. She also competed for Italy at the 2026 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I Group A tournament.

Seattle completed its inaugural PWHL season in 2025-26.
