Small plane forced to land on Trans-Canada Highway west of Banff

A small white single-propeller plane made a forced landing on the Trans-Canada Highway's shoulder near a wildlife overpass about 20 kilometres west of the Sunshine turnoff on Tuesday afternoon shortly before 3 p.m.
Alberta RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney confirmed the landing. "The plane had to do a forced landing," Slaney said. "The pilot is looking to fix whatever was wrong. It was something mechanical, they believe."
Two men were observed working on the aircraft at the scene. Highway traffic continued to move through the area during the incident. The pilot attempted to repair the mechanical issue—believed to involve the engine or power system—before the aircraft could be removed.
No injuries were reported. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada confirmed no damage to the plane. TSB plans to speak with the pilot but will not send an investigator to the scene. Parks Canada was also made aware of the incident.
The scene was expected to be cleared once the aircraft issue was resolved. The origin and destination of the flight were not immediately known.
