SE Calgary truck fire nearly spreads to homes

A commercial furnace and duct-cleaning truck caught fire in southeast Calgary on Tuesday afternoon, sending flames dangerously close to several homes in the Belvedere community.
The Calgary Fire Department responded to the blaze along Belvedere Drive SE around 12:20 p.m. Crews arrived to find the truck burning outside a home, with flames threatening nearby houses. Firefighters called in additional resources to contain the spread.
Minor damage was reported to siding and a garage door, but the fire did not advance further before being brought under control. No injuries were reported. Investigators are examining the cause.
The quick response prevented what could have been a neighbourhood-wide emergency.
