Six teenagers have been charged after a 17-year-old was bear-sprayed and stabbed in an Auburn Bay alley on May 7, 2026.
Calgary police responded to the 100 block of Auburn Meadows Way S.E. to find the teen with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital but has since been released.
Police said the victim was confronted by six younger teens in the alley. A fight broke out during which bear spray was used before the victim was stabbed. Two suspects were arrested soon after, and CCTV footage led to the arrest of four additional suspects.
The accused are two 15-year-olds and four 14-year-olds. Each has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of assault with a weapon, and one count of disguise with intent. All are prohibited from being named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The accused are scheduled to appear in youth court on July 21.
"Violence of this nature involving youth is deeply concerning," said District 8 Inspector Darry Midtdal. "We are grateful to the witnesses and community members who came forward with information. Their assistance was instrumental in helping us identify and charge the teens involved in this senseless attack."
