The Calgary Stampeders put up a season-high 58 points Thursday night in a decisive victory over the Toronto Argonauts, improving their record to 2-2. An unexpected visitor nearly stole the spotlight.
Late in the third quarter with the Stampeders on the Argonauts' one-yard line, a rabbit hopped onto McMahon Stadium's field and took a seat in the end zone. After a brief pause, officials allowed the rabbit to stay. Immediately after, Quincy Vaughn scored a touchdown to extend the Stampeders' lead.
The 19,100 in attendance witnessed the unlikely moment, which was captured and shared by TSN on social media. This wasn't the first time a rabbit has made an appearance at McMahon — similar incidents have occurred multiple times over the years, including a notable one during the Labour Day Classic between the Stampeders and Edmonton Elks in 2015.
The win helped the Stampeders take sole possession of third place in the West Division. They head to Montreal next Saturday to face the 3-1 East Division-leading Allouettes, then return home for a rematch on Saturday, July 18.
