Calgary police have charged two men following a months-long investigation into a series of commercial break-and-enters that targeted businesses across the city.
The investigation began when officers responded to a break-in at Norcan Fluid Power Ltd. near Glenmore Trail and 52 Street SE sometime between the evening of July 27 and the morning of July 28. Two suspects entered the fenced yard and stole approximately $100,000 in specialized electrical equipment.
As police continued investigating similar commercial break-ins, they identified two suspects believed to be connected to multiple property-related offences. On Aug. 18, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Riverbend where they recovered a stolen vehicle and numerous items believed to have been taken from other businesses. The stolen vehicle has been returned to its owner, along with more than $30,000 in stolen property recovered for affected companies.
