Two separate motorcycle collisions in northeast Calgary resulted in five people being hospitalized Saturday evening, with serious injuries reported at both scenes.

The first collision occurred at 6:33 p.m. at the south end of Skyview Shores Manor N.E., involving a motorcycle and SUV. The motorcycle driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while a passenger of the SUV was sent for precautionary reasons. East-to-west traffic was closed off during the investigation.

A second collision took place at 9:40 p.m. along the 3700 block of Barlow Trail, involving two motorcycles and an SUV. Both motorcycle riders were transported to hospital with serious injuries, and two passengers of the SUV were also taken for precautionary reasons. Traffic in both directions of Barlow Trail between 32nd Avenue and 39th Avenue was shut down.

Police continue to investigate both collisions.
