Vernon Adams Jr. tied a franchise record Thursday night, throwing six touchdown passes as the Calgary Stampeders dominated the Toronto Argonauts 58-36 in the Stampede Bowl at McMahon Stadium.

Adams, in his second season with the Stampeders, had four touchdowns in the first half alone, including a first-drive strike to Jalen Philpot and three second-quarter majors. One of those came on a 73-yard catch-and-run by Tevin Jones. He added a third-quarter 43-yard touchdown pass to Clark Barnes and connected with Dejon Brissett in the fourth quarter. Adams also ran in a TD on a scramble from 22 yards out.

The last time a Stampeders QB threw for six TDs was Dave Dickenson on July 28, 2000, against Saskatchewan. It was the second time in the franchise's history the team scored more than 50 points — the last instance was 56 points on September 10, 2022, in the Labour Day Rematch against Edmonton.

Adams finished with 405 yards on 20-of-25 passing with zero interceptions. Head coach Dave Dickenson called it "one of the better games I've probably ever seen," noting Adams made several plays on his own while the offence kept the pressure on throughout the game.

The win improved the Stampeders to 2-2 on the season, while the Argonauts fell to 2-2.
