For artist Andrea Krahn, painting is about joy first, perfection never. This June 6, she's bringing that philosophy to a Pride Month paint night at the Strathcona County Museum and Archives.

Krahn, who returned to painting during the pandemic, believes creativity offers something missing from many people's daily lives. "Everyone's art journey starts somewhere, and the first step is sometimes the hardest," she said. Her approach to teaching emphasizes play over technique, encouraging people to get out of their own way and just make something.

The evening is designed for all skill levels. You don't need experience or talent—just willingness to show up and participate. In a season celebrating Pride, the paint night becomes a space for community, creativity, and the simple act of making something with people you might not otherwise meet.

The Strathcona County Museum and Archives has been expanding its programming to reflect the region's full community. This event signals that commitment: art, celebration, and inclusion all in one brush stroke.

Come alone or bring friends. The only rule is to show up and enjoy the process.
