Fort Saskatchewan RCMP are warning the public about a fraudulent event posting for The Northern Prairie Craft, Food, & Vendor Fair, which was advertised to run Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28 at the Dow Centennial Centre.

Investigators confirmed the posting was a scam. The booking was not legitimate, and at least one vendor was defrauded after using an Eventbrite link to secure a table.

Police are reminding residents to remain cautious when responding to online listings, booking requests, or payment links. Recent cases in the region point to a range of frauds affecting individuals and businesses.

RCMP have issued alerts about contractor-related fraud, including paving scams, where suspects offer unsolicited services and pressure homeowners into paying for work that is incomplete or substandard.

Alberta RCMP have also highlighted common fraud types: phishing emails, fake job offers, romance scams, and online marketplace fraud, which frequently rely on deceptive links and impersonation tactics.

RCMP encourage residents to verify events and businesses through official sources before making payments or sharing personal information.

Anyone unsure about a potential scam can consult the Government of Canada's fraud awareness resources. Victims are urged to report incidents to local police and the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at www.antifraudcentre.ca or 1–888–495–8501. Individuals should contact their financial institutions immediately if they believe their information has been compromised.

The investigation into the fake event posting remains ongoing.
