Nearly two years after closing, Andy's IGA may be returning to its longtime west Edmonton home at 9106 142nd St. NW.
New signage for Andy's IGA was approved by the City of Edmonton on June 18, and signage has since gone up at the location. The store closed on July 31, 2024, after almost 50 years when longtime owners Andy and Gerrie Taschuk retired. For many in the community, it was a neighbourhood fixture known for friendly staff and a welcoming environment.
After the closure, L'OCA—an Italian market offering handmade pasta, pizza, baked goods, meat, cheese, and specialty groceries—opened in the space in January 2025. L'OCA ceased operations in March 2026, shutting down both its Edmonton and Sherwood Park locations.
Sobeys, IGA's parent company, has posted job openings online for a full management team at an IGA bearing the same postal code as the 142nd Street location. The company has not yet announced a reopening date.
