U-pick berry farms open for summer around Edmonton region

U-pick berry farms are opening across the Edmonton region this summer, offering everything from haskap to strawberries for families looking to pick fresh fruit.
Blas Berry Orchard in Spruce Grove is opening mid-July with over 13,000 haskap berry bushes. Open Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday and holidays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., berries are priced at $6 per pound. Address: 51009B Range Rd. 273, Spruce Grove.
Big Rock Berry Farm in Spruce Grove is also opening mid-to-end of July for saskatoon berries and raspberries. Timing and pricing vary; check their Facebook page for fruit updates. Located at 3-51310 Range Rd. 261.
Rosy Farms, just 45 minutes from Edmonton in Alcomdale, is open Tuesday to Sunday until mid-August with six different haskap varieties. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., berries are $6 per pound. Address: 57114 Range Rd. 264, Alcomdale.
Prairie Gardens in Bon Accord is opening strawberry u-pick July 18 on Wednesdays and Sundays, 9:30 a.m. (picking usually closed by 10:30 a.m.). Over 10 strawberry varieties are available at $7 per pint. Address: 56311 Lily Lake Rd., Bon Accord.
Horse Hill Berry Farm, a family-owned raspberry operation on the city's northeast side, is opening July 16. Located at 3203 211th Ave. NE, Edmonton, berries are $16 per kilogram. Timing to be announced.
Rain and minimal sun have slowed ripening across all farms, but picking should be ready by mid-July. Check farm social media for updates before heading out.
