Pembina Pipeline Corporation is moving forward with a $570-million plant in Alberta's Industrial Heartland, northeast of Edmonton, marking a significant investment in the region's oil-and-gas infrastructure.

The Heartland Extraction Plant will extract liquid hydrocarbons from the Yellowhead Pipeline. Pembina and Dow have reached an agreement that expands ethane availability through the deal, creating mutual benefit for both companies as they expand processing capacity.

The Industrial Heartland has been a growth zone for petrochemical infrastructure over the past decade. This project adds to that momentum, though it also comes as the industry navigates evolving energy policy and market volatility.

The plant represents significant capital commitment to the region and will generate construction and operational jobs.
