Edmonton authorities are appealing for help identifying a child sexual assault victim by releasing an image of a distinctive purple shirt from old evidence.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's Internet Child Exploitation unit says the shirt, emblazoned with "SLEEPOVER WITH MY BFF'S" and three kittens, appears to be commercially produced. The victim would be in their mid-teens now, investigators believe. ALERT charged a man in October 2025 after seizing computers and electronic devices from an Edmonton home. Charges include sexual assault, sexual interference, transmitting and distributing child sexual abuse material, and bestiality.
Forensic analysis found dozens of exhibits related to a second, unidentified victim—in addition to one victim who has been identified. The man is known to have lived in St. Albert, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Edmonton. The abuse occurred between November 2017 and February 2019, when the unidentified girl was approximately six to eight years old.
The case came to light when a technology company flagged new content to authorities through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators discovered about 90 exhibits during their review.
"We're hoping the shirt photo will catch somebody's memory," said Cpl. Matt Pepper. "We want to be able to provide them with supports. They may have had unresolved trauma for the last six years or so that's just gone completely unresolved." Anyone with information is asked to contact ICE at 825-556-2423, local police, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
