Human remains found north of Edmonton on August 6 belong to 12-year-old Fiasal Hussein, and an autopsy confirmed the manner of death was homicide, RCMP said Sunday.
Mounties responded to a report of human remains near Highway 813 near Calling Lake or Range Road 213A around 3:26 a.m. on August 6. An autopsy completed August 7 at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton confirmed the victim's identity and that the death was a homicide. The boy had not been reported missing to police prior to the discovery, and his family has been notified.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating. Police are asking anyone who was in the area between midnight and 4:30 a.m. on August 6 and has dash camera footage to contact Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-4252 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
