Edmonton police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man found critically injured in central Edmonton Wednesday afternoon.

Downtown patrol officers responded around 12:58 p.m. to a report of an injured man near 112 Avenue and 82 Street. EMS treated and transported him to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police confirmed the serious injuries appear suspicious and launched a homicide investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, August 6. Detectives have not released information about the circumstances of the injury or any suspects, nor are they asking for witnesses at this time.
