Edmonton homicide investigators probe two deaths in hours
Police responded to a disturbance on 118 Avenue Wednesday morning; a seriously injured man died in hospital. A second suspicious death occurred near 124 Street hours earlier.

Edmonton homicide investigators are examining two separate suspicious deaths that occurred within hours of each other Wednesday.
Police were responding to an unrelated matter around 6 a.m. when a seriously injured man emerged from a residence at 118 Avenue and 47 Street. Another individual came out after him. First responders provided life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead in hospital.
"The other individual was taken into custody without further incident. The deceased and the arrested person are known to one another. Police are not looking for any other suspects," the Edmonton Police Service said. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
The second death came earlier that morning around 4 a.m. near 124 Street and 109 Avenue in Westmount. Police found a 22-year-old man in medical distress outside a home; he was declared dead at the scene. The homicide section took over the investigation and ordered an autopsy.
