Winter officially arrives in Edmonton Saturday with the season's first snowfall — about 2 cm of wet snow and wind gusts up to 40 km/h.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Saturday morning warning of the incoming system. Snowfall amounts across central and northern Alberta will be "highly variable," the agency said, with greater accumulation likely in the southern foothills and along the U.S. border near the Cypress Hills.
