Josh Georgeson, 21, died in a collision involving his motorcycle and a 2017 Range Rover on August 19. Speed was believed to be a factor in the crash, according to police.
His father, Rylan Georgeson, organized a memorial ride with motorcycle community members and Josh's close friends in early September. "That was one of the few things that we really shared a passion about, obviously motorcycles," Rylan said. His mother, Josie Georgeson, acknowledged the role speed played. "It's important that cars do follow the law and just take their time and be patient. I wish Josh had been patient and wasn't speeding as much as he was."
Just four days after Josh's death, another fatal motorcycle collision occurred on Calgary Trail when a motorcycle struck a Honda.
Josh's friend JayJay Johal said the ride captured what Josh loved. "Feels good and all that's something he always loved, cars and bikes. And everyone getting together and doing all the 'ride out' he'll love it." His mother found comfort in the community response. "It's almost been a month and people are still going and visiting and bringing flowers so it does feel really nice and comforting."
Rylan's message to other riders was direct: "Just slow down, be patient. Have that respect for the machine."
