A 21-year-old man died Wednesday, August 19, after his motorcycle collided with an SUV in southeast Edmonton.
Edmonton police responded at 8:28 p.m. to reports of a collision near 34 Street and 64 Avenue. Police said a 2017 Land Rover Range Rover was traveling south on 34 Street and began turning east onto 64 Avenue when it was struck from behind by the motorcycle. The motorcyclist died from injuries at the scene. The Range Rover's driver, a 44-year-old woman, and her two passengers were uninjured.
The EPS major collision investigations section is investigating the crash. Speed is believed to be a factor. No charges have been laid against the Range Rover driver at this time; the investigation is ongoing.
Police ask anyone who witnessed the collision or captured it on dashcam footage to contact Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
