Edmonton police are trying to identify a man spotted with a missing father and his two children nearly three weeks after they vanished.
Scot MacDermid, 42, and his children George, 6, and Lesley, 9, have not been seen or heard from since August 28, when they were last confirmed at Manning Town Centre in northeast Edmonton. That evening around 6:30 p.m., they were seen in Lloydminster, approximately two-and-a-half hours west of Edmonton. Surveillance video shows an unknown man entering a Lloydminster hotel at 7:07 p.m. the same day.
Police believe the family may have been seen in Saskatchewan or Manitoba after that, though no confirmed sightings have been reported. The direction of travel beyond Lloydminster remains unknown.
Edmonton Police Service issued a public alert on September 8 seeking assistance, then learned of the Lloydminster sighting afterward. "Scot MacDermid has been unreachable, and he and his children have not been seen or heard from since Aug. 28. As a result, police are concerned for their welfare," the service said in a statement.
Police are asking anyone who can identify the unknown man or who has information about the family's current whereabouts to contact Edmonton Police Service.
