Two suspects are facing weapons charges after BB gun fire hit two people and a St. Albert city bus last week.

On May 26 at around 4:25 p.m., St. Albert RCMP responded to a gun complaint near 500 Rivercrest. Officers found two people suffering minor injuries from BB rounds and discovered the transit bus had also been struck.

Police quickly arrested two suspects who fled on foot. A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces two counts of assault with a weapon, use of an imitation firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief under $5,000. He appeared in court May 27 and was released under conditions. His next appearance is scheduled for July 7 in St. Albert youth court.

Jordan Brandon Doskocil, 19, of Edmonton, is charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with an undertaking, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was released under conditions after his May 27 court appearance, with his next hearing set for June 29.

St. Albert RCMP Sergeant Terrence Willard emphasized the danger of carrying replica firearms in public. "The resemblance between imitation and real firearms can be indistinguishable," he said, noting the seized weapons looked realistic and posed serious public safety risks.
