Road closures grip city Sunday for Tour de l'Île
Major arteries across Montréal shut down 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as thousands of cyclists take over streets.
Sunday's Tour de l'Île cycling event will reshape traffic across Montréal, closing dozens of major streets from early morning through mid-afternoon.
The Go vélo Montréal Festival event runs 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., affecting most boroughs. Saint-Laurent Boulevard closes between Bernard and Legendre in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension. Jarry Street West shuts down to De l'Épée Avenue, and Park Avenue becomes inaccessible between Parc métro and Thérèse-Lavoie.
In Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Saint-Hubert Street closes from Legendre to Gouin Boulevard, with eastbound Gouin lanes reserved for cyclists. De Lorimier Avenue closes between Prieur and Frédéric-Back Park. Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie sees Beaubien Street blocked between 21st and Des Érables avenues.
Downtown, Ville-Marie and the Quartier des spectacles will see closures on Saint-Denis, Sainte-Catherine, Saint-Laurent, and Saint-Antoine near Victoria Square and McGill Street. The Sud-Ouest borough's Wellington, Saint-Patrick, and Notre-Dame streets face disruptions through the Lachine Canal sector.
Westmount, Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, and Outremont will also experience partial closures. Drivers should avoid affected areas and check traffic updates before heading out — or just leave the car home and join the ride.
