Three vehicles torched in Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

Three parked vehicles were deliberately set on fire Monday night in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, sparking an investigation by the SPVM's arson unit.
Witnesses reported the fires around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Pierre-De-Coubertin and La Salle avenues, close to the Olympic Stadium. Firefighters arrived to find two cars and a sport utility vehicle ablaze. All three vehicles became total losses and were towed for expert examination.
According to police, a suspect was reportedly seen setting the vehicles on fire before fleeing the scene. An examination of the scene found no incendiary materials. As of Tuesday morning, the SPVM had not reported any arrests.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and attempting to obtain footage from nearby surveillance cameras.
