Laval police are asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a vehicle arson case in the Chomedey district.
A car parked on a public street was set on fire on August 2 at approximately 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of Voltaire and De Véronne streets.
Surveillance camera footage shows the suspect as a young man with dark skin, dressed in black. He was seen loitering around the vehicle for several minutes before allegedly setting it on fire and fleeing the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Laval police confidentially through the Info-Police hotline at 450-662-INFO (4636) or by dialing 911. The case number is LVL260802-015.
This incident follows other suspected arsons in the broader Montreal region. In August, Montreal police investigated a suspected arson at a Villeray beauty salon. In June, a Laval barbershop was damaged in a suspected arson, and a woman was arrested. In August, police also investigated a possible arson at kosher restaurant Nöam on Montreal.
