La Spada on Notre-Dame Street West in Saint-Henri was broken into Wednesday morning, marking the second theft at the restaurant in three months.
Thieves stole four bottles of alcohol and caused approximately $1,000 in damage to doors and locks, the restaurant said on social media. After an earlier break-in in April — when an empty safe was stolen — La Spada invested in a "brand-new state-of-the-art alarm system." On Wednesday, that system did not trigger.
Video footage shared by the restaurant shows the alleged robber using a tool to pry open the restaurant door, then walking around inside with his face fully visible on camera. "The best part? Full face on camera. No shame whatsoever," the restaurant wrote on Instagram. "I honestly can't make this stuff up anymore."
The restaurant owner expressed frustration with the ongoing crime targeting the neighbourhood. "Owning a restaurant is hard enough without dealing with this. Just exhausting."
