A 26-year-old woman is in stable condition after being injured in an armed assault Saturday afternoon in Montreal's Ville-Marie borough.
Montreal police responded around 4:45 p.m. to De Bleury Street near De la Concorde Street, where they found the woman with injuries to her upper body. She was transported to hospital, where her condition was initially considered life-threatening but has since stabilized, according to SPVM spokesperson Johany Charland.
"According to initial reports, the suspect allegedly injured the victim in the upper body with what may have been a sharp object, for a reason that remains unknown," Charland said. The suspect reportedly fled before police arrived.
Investigators established a perimeter to protect evidence and visited the scene to better understand the circumstances of the attack. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
