A 35-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Montreal near the intersection of René-Lévesque and Saint-Laurent Boulevards.

Montreal police received multiple 911 calls shortly before 3 a.m. reporting the collision. Officers found the woman unconscious with injuries to her upper body. She was transported to hospital for treatment.

SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said the pedestrian had crossed the intersection while the traffic light was red for her. The driver of the vehicle left the scene without stopping or providing information.

Investigators determined the vehicle was travelling eastbound on René-Lévesque Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian. Police have not yet disclosed the make or model of the vehicle.

A security perimeter was established for the collision unit's investigation. Traffic restrictions remain in place: René-Lévesque Boulevard is closed eastbound between Saint-Urbain and Saint-Dominique Streets, and Saint-Laurent Boulevard is closed between Viger Street and René-Lévesque Boulevard.
