A 34-year-old man was hospitalized after being injured with a sharp object early Monday in Montreal's Ville-Marie borough, near the intersection of René-Lévesque Boulevard and Drummond Street.
Montreal police received calls around 1:30 a.m. reporting the assault. The man sustained serious injuries to his upper body but police say his life is not considered in danger.
No arrests have been made. Police have established a perimeter at the scene and investigators and forensic identification technicians are examining the area. A canine unit was called to search for evidence, and officers will check for surveillance cameras nearby.
Police have not identified a motive or released details about what led to the assault. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SPVM.
HighOnCity reported similar armed assaults in Ville-Marie in June when a man was hospitalized after an assault near Sherbrooke and Saint-Laurent, and in July when a 32-year-old man was stabbed downtown.
