An 18-year-old man was charged Monday after he and three other teens allegedly drove an SUV into a jewelry store in Montreal's Ahunstic-Cartierville borough during an attempted robbery.
Hamsleyson Falens Theobald appeared in court on two counts: breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, and breaking and entering using a vehicle. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years and remains in custody.
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 6, when the group drove the SUV through the storefront, then fled in a getaway vehicle. Police intercepted a vehicle matching witness descriptions and arrested all four suspects. The three teens under 18 were released and are expected to appear in youth court at a future date.
