Police arrested two suspects, including a 14-year-old boy, after a jewelry store robbery at Place Versailles shopping mall in Anjou on Thursday, October 8, around 2:30 p.m.
Multiple suspects allegedly committed the robbery. They fled in a vehicle and collided at the intersection of Galeries d'Anjou Boulevard and Jarry Street. The suspects abandoned the vehicle at Neuville Avenue and de la Pleiade Street and fled on foot. Police seized a bag believed to have been left by the suspects; the origin of jewelry in the bag is unknown at this time.
One arrested suspect is a 14-year-old boy. The identity and details of the second arrested suspect have not been disclosed by police. A crime scene was established and the investigation is ongoing. The SPVM spokesperson Manuel Couture confirmed the arrests.
This robbery follows similar jewelry store incidents in the city. In September, five suspects were charged in a downtown Montreal jewelry store smash-and-grab robbery, and in July, four teens were arrested after an attempted jewellery store robbery in Ahunstic-Cartierville.
