Man seriously injured in stabbing near Atwater Market

A 35-year-old was hospitalized with upper-body wounds following a late-night assault Monday. No arrests have been made.

A man was stabbed near Atwater Market late Monday night and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Montreal police responded to a 911 call at approximately 11 p.m. on Atwater Avenue near Notre-Dame Street. Officers found the victim suffering from upper-body injuries caused by a sharp object. "The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries, but his life is not considered to be in danger," said SPVM spokesperson Florence Stafford.

Police established a security perimeter around the scene and gathered evidence, but no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

The area around the market remains a focus for police patrols.
