Montreal police officer killed in Côte-des-Neiges shooting
Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, died protecting the public during an intervention Monday; one suspect and one civilian also died.

Montreal police announced Monday that Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane, 34, was the officer killed in a shooting during an intervention in the city's Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood.
Benredouane died "in the line of duty while protecting the public," the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal said. He served with the force and was remembered for his sense of duty, dedication, and professionalism.
Police were called to the scene after a witness reported seeing a gun sticking out of a window. The shooting resulted in the deaths of Benredouane and one civilian. One suspect was also killed. An injured officer is in stable condition and another civilian sustained minor injuries.
The SPVM's flags are at half-mast to pay tribute to the fallen officer. The department's official statement concluded: "Fallen, but never forgotten."
