A Montreal police officer was seriously injured Wednesday during an intervention at an apartment on 14th Avenue near Émile-Journault Avenue in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough.

The Montreal Police Service was called to the address in the late afternoon for a health and safety check of the occupants. During the intervention, the officer sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries, possibly caused by a sharp object. A second person was also reported seriously injured by a police officer during the same incident.

The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) has been assigned to investigate the incident. A perimeter was established to secure the scene. The investigation status and findings have not yet been released.

The incident marks another serious injury to a Montreal officer in recent months. In June, a Montreal police officer was killed in a shooting in Côte-des-Neiges.
