STM monthly passes jump 3% starting July 1

Single and two-ride fares stay the same, but monthly pass holders will pay $5.50 more for regular fares.

If you ride the STM regularly, budget an extra $5.50 a month starting July 1. The transit authority is raising monthly pass prices across all zones by that flat amount for regular fares, and $3.25 more for reduced fares — a 3% increase tied to the authority's 2025-2028 funding agreement with the provincial government and the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal.

ARTM director general Benoît Gendron acknowledged the timing stings. "We are fully aware of the impact that the annual indexation represents in a context where the cost of living is putting significant pressure on households," he said.

The good news: single and two-ride fares aren't changing. If you buy tickets occasionally, you won't feel this one. Tous modes A monthly passes jump to $110 for regular fares; AB zones to $170; ABC to $206; and ABCD (areas outside ARTM territory) to $281. Limited-time passes like evening and weekend options rise by a few cents; 10-ride blocks go up roughly $1 on average.

One other shift: South Shore REM riders will lose the transitional fares that eased the shift to the new network when it launched in 2023. Starting July 1, South Shore riders need to pick the standard Tous modes pass that fits their travel zones.
