UCI Road World Championships close Montreal streets through Sunday; here's what you need to know
Elite women's and men's races this weekend will shut down roads across eight boroughs. Mount Royal reopens mid-race; Parc Avenue stays closed until October 4.

Montreal's hosting the UCI Road World Championships this weekend, and the city is shutting down major routes for elite cycling races on Saturday and Sunday.
The women's elite road race is Saturday, September 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The men's race is Sunday, September 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Barriers will go up each morning at 7 a.m., and streets reopen when competition wraps for the day.
Closures span eight areas: Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Outremont, Ville-Marie, Sud-Ouest, Verdun, Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, and Westmount. The Mount Royal circuit—including Atwater Avenue, Docteur-Penfield Avenue, Côte-des-Neiges Road, the Camillien-Houde climb, and Côte de Polytechnique—reopens around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
Parc Avenue between Des Pins and Mont-Royal avenues has been closed since early September for a temporary 200,000-person stadium and won't reopen until October 4.
Races start in the Montérégie region, cross the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge, and connect into the Mount Royal circuit downtown. No parking is allowed anywhere along race routes; vehicles will be towed.
For parking and transit, free parking is available at the Chevrier lot in Brossard on race weekend, with free shuttles to elite race start areas and fan zones. The city recommends using the metro over buses this weekend. The REM is recommended as an alternative from the South Shore, Laval, and North Shore. A special all-access pass, Titre spécial Mondiaux Cyclisme: Tous modes ABC, is valid across zones A, B, C on bus, metro, train, and REM networks through September 27 at 11:59 p.m. Several bus routes will be detoured or suspended near race courses.
