VIA Rail is moving ahead with a multimodal hub in Dorval that will bring together VIA Rail, Exo trains, and Montreal's Trudeau International Airport shuttle services at the current Exo station site.

The railway has launched the co-development phase of the Dorval Multimodal Hub, aimed at making connections easier for West Island commuters and travelers. The work includes consolidating VIA Rail and Exo stations on the current exo site as a one-stop transit shop, integrating the airport shuttle service, and better aligning connections between the networks.

For travelers, this will mean easier transfers, less travel between facilities, shorter transfer times, and ultimately a more seamless and predictable travel experience. Dorval Mayor Marc Doret called it "a tangible investment in the mobility of our residents and in the future of our region. By bringing together rail, public transit and direct access to the airport, we are creating a modern, efficient and sustainable transportation hub that will make travel easier while reinforcing Dorval's strategic role within Montréal's West Island."

The project is being developed with the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain, Exo, Aéroports de Montréal, and the City of Dorval. Construction is set to begin in 2027, with the co-development phase expected to last about a year. The budget for the hub and the full project timeline between 2026 and 2027 have not been disclosed.
