Fire leaves Barrhaven townhome unhabitable early Wednesday

Firefighters responded to a townhome fire in the 1000 block of Parnian Private in Barrhaven just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, finding the second floor fully engulfed in flames.

Crew members found fire on both the second and third floor porches, with flames spreading rapidly through the structure. Teams worked simultaneously to douse the building with water from outside while another crew entered with a hose to contain the spread.

Firefighters conducted two searches of the townhome and confirmed no one remained inside. The fire was declared under control over an hour after the first call.

Victim services were dispatched to assist the residents. A fire investigator attended the scene to determine the cause. The home has been deemed unhabitable.
