Lalande Conservation Park in Orléans is closed indefinitely after a reported attack on a 14-year-old boy by three coyotes in the area. The city announced the closure Tuesday and is working with provincial wildlife experts to manage the situation.

The park sits near Nantes Street and Portobello Boulevard. City staff have installed trail cameras and bylaw officers are advising residents to avoid the park and surrounding green space.

Relocation of the animals has been reviewed but Ontario's wildlife regulations restrict those options. The city is now in discussions with the provincial government about whether exemptions could allow relocations. Staff are preparing contingency plans should relocation not be approved.

Residents are urged not to approach or attack coyotes and to report concerning behaviour through 3-1-1. The park will remain closed until response operations are complete.
